Steel Warehouse and Galvanized Portal-Frame Fabrication

FSS supplies project-specific structural steel packages for warehouses and logistics buildings. The solution can cover steel detailing, portal-frame fabrication, bracing and connection components, quality inspection, specified painting or hot-dip galvanizing, component marking and export packaging. It is intended for EPC contractors and local erection teams that need a fabrication package based on approved project drawings rather than a generic building kit.

Warehouse length, width, clear height, bay spacing, loads, door openings, cladding interfaces and corrosion protection are project inputs-not fixed catalogue values. FSS reviews the available information before confirming the fabrication and delivery scope.

Typical applications

  • Industrial and general-storage warehouses
  • Logistics and distribution buildings
  • Material storage and maintenance buildings
  • Portal-frame buildings with large door openings
  • Warehouses requiring painted or hot-dip galvanized steelwork
  • Export projects erected by a local steel contractor

Buyer challenges addressed

The warehouse layout must be converted into a clear structural package

Racking zones, internal circulation, loading areas, doors, future extensions and roof or wall systems affect the frame layout and connection interfaces. These requirements should be identified before shop drawings and fabrication are released.

Local wind, seismic and other loads cannot be assumed

The responsible design party must provide the approved project loads and code basis. FSS uses the released information for detailing and fabrication and does not replace the project's Engineer of Record or local approval process.

Corrosion protection must match the specified environment

Painting and hot-dip galvanizing require different detailing, venting, drainage, handling and inspection considerations. The selected system, preparation requirements and acceptance criteria should be confirmed before production.

Export packaging affects local installation efficiency

Component marks, packing lists, shipment grouping and protection during transport help local contractors identify and sequence the steelwork after arrival. Packaging should reflect the agreed shipment and installation plan.

FSS warehouse supply solution

  • Review the warehouse layout, approved structural drawings and required steel package.
  • Coordinate portal-frame members, bracing, secondary interfaces and shop drawings when included.
  • Fabricate columns, rafters, bracing and agreed connection components.
  • Perform dimensional and visual inspection and any project-specified testing.
  • Apply the confirmed paint system or hot-dip galvanizing specification.
  • Mark components and prepare shipment groups, packing lists and export packaging.

Featured project - Ghana galvanized warehouse

FSS supplied approximately 1,000 tonnes of structural steel for a portal-frame warehouse project in Ghana. The confirmed package covered steel detailing, portal-frame fabrication, hot-dip galvanizing, quality inspection and export packaging.

The available evidence includes workshop production photographs and limited site-installation reference images. The site images should be presented only as project feedback and should not be used to imply that FSS performed the local erection.

FAQ

Q: Does FSS sell a standard warehouse kit?

A: FSS primarily supplies project-specific steelwork based on approved drawings and the confirmed order scope. Dimensions, loads, materials and interfaces are reviewed for each project.

Q: Can the warehouse steel be hot-dip galvanized?

A: Yes, when galvanizing is specified and the component design, venting, drainage, dimensions and acceptance requirements are suitable. The final galvanizing scope must be confirmed in the approved project documents and quotation.

Q: Are roof and wall panels included?

A: They are included only when explicitly listed in the quotation and purchase order. The structural steel package, cladding package and locally supplied items should be compared on the same scope basis.

Q: Who installs the warehouse?

A: The client's local contractor normally performs unloading and erection. FSS supplies the agreed fabricated package and documents; any technical support must be defined in the order scope.
